motors typically feature two phases which are wound at right
angles or in a space quadrature. The control winding is excited by
a variable or adjustable voltage while the reference or fixed
winding is excited by the fixed voltage source. To ensure the power
inputs achieve maximum phase excitation and balanced control phase
signals, the windings are frequently designed with identical
voltage/turns ratios. AC servo motors are designed to inherently
decrease as ratings increase due to damping. AC servo motors also
display reasonable efficiency albeit with the sacrifice of speed
torque linearity.
